Start with the operating model, not only the marketplace account

France offers several major online marketplaces, including Amazon France, Cdiscount, Fnac, ManoMano and other specialist platforms. The best starting point depends on your product category, inventory model, customer location and current company structure.

What should you check before applying?

Marketplace onboarding requirements vary by platform and seller profile. You may be asked for company registration information, identity documents, tax information, bank details, product compliance information and a customer-service or returns setup. Do not assume every marketplace requires exactly the same French structure.

Plan VAT and logistics before stock moves

VAT treatment can change depending on where your company is established, where inventory is stored, where customers are located and whether an EU One Stop Shop scheme is relevant. If you plan to hold stock in France or another EU country, review the tax and stock-location implications before sending inventory.

Build a repeatable expansion process

Choose the first marketplace, confirm onboarding requirements, map VAT and product-compliance obligations, define order handling and returns, then expand to additional channels once the operating flow is stable.

Francosetup can help connect company formation, accounting and business domiciliation where those services are relevant to your France setup.
